My Students
I have the privilege of teaching a special group of students. They range from the age of 14 to 21 years. My students have various disabilities. The disabilities range from learning disabilities to having physical or cognitive disabilities. My group of eager learners do not let their disabilities stop them from growing and learning. Every day is an adventure in the classroom, and being able to give them the physical tools to get ahead and grow gives me great joy.
The students in my class come in every day excited and ready to learn new things!
They are eager to see their friends. They are eager to use the materials that are not available to them on a daily basis at home. Seeing their faces glow when they see new things in the classroom makes my day.
My Project
This project is intended to reach all of the students in my school. When walking around in the school, I noticed both the washer and dryer were not working. They are both a vital part of teaching all of our students life skills such as washing, drying and folding clothing and tablecloths from our school cafe. The students practice these skills for when they graduate and leave our program they have the necessary skills to live.
We have a lot of students that also come from shelters or are homeless.
Having a washer and dryer in the school will allow them to feel clean. And will also eliminate school bullying because of it. With your help, we can give each student working within the school the ability to learn practical and important lifelong skills.
