My students need a vibrant classroom rug to join together during our morning meetings, whole group read aloud, and small group activities.

My Students

My students come from countries all over the world with vastly different backgrounds, which makes them each especially unique. They are eager learners; they are excited to learn English, how to read, make sense of the universal language of numbers, and solve equations. For some, it is their first experience in school and for many, their first time being read to. They quickly begin to love books, use math manipulatives, and learn through versatile approaches! They are faced with many challenges, as they live in high poverty neighborhoods and struggle to overcome language barriers, cultural differences, and gaps in their learning. They are strong and work hard to be the best they can be. The potential they have to succeed is enormous!

My Project

The classroom rug is a communal space for students to learn and grow both academically and socially. Every day, students gather on the rug for a morning meeting, whole group read aloud, small group activities, and an end of day recap session. A new and vibrant rug will not only lighten and brighten the classroom, but it will also give a fun and educational space for students to read comfortably with a buddy, play a math game, or share a favorite story with friends. Please consider donating towards this project so our 2nd grade class can be snug as a bug on the rug.
