This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are energized, creative, and hardworking third-grade children. They are writers, illustrators, singers, comedians, and so much more.
We are a Title I school and this year, one hundred percent of students will receive free breakfast and lunch.
We are located in a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Our children come from low socioeconomic households and assistance is often needed to help them find success. Teachers in our school are continually helping families in any way possible. We care for our students as our own.
My Project
In receiving the donation of a classroom rug, I will be able to have a fresh, comfy place for the students to sit when we get together for daily meetings, read alouds and the end of the week “Friday Song.” The rug we have now is a rug that I use after my daughter returned home after graduating from college. She used it for her years at school and then I took it to school to use with my students. As you can imagine, it is time for me to begin looking for a new rug. This will allow us to have a clean, designated spot to come together and work as a team where we build classroom community daily.
