Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a primary resource special education teacher for a local 5-star elementary school in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am currently finishing up my third year teaching k-2 students who need extra help in meeting their academic and behavioral IEP goals.
Often times, the one on one or small group instruction I offer them helps to provide the extra support and modeling they need to become successful in their general education classroom and throughout the school campus.
My students come from a diverse community of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. They benefit from differentiated learning strategies, manipulatives and the attention they receive in a smaller atmosphere. They are happy and motivated to learn! Each student in my classroom is encouraged and supported through our growth mindset objectives that provide assistance and support to help them achieve their goals and continue learning at their own pace.
My Project
It's a well-known fact that schools are a breeding ground for sick kids. Often times, you can hear them coughing and sniffling from every corner and every classroom at any given time.
It is my intention to keep my classroom free of germs and the creepy crud that causes so many students to become sick.
Using Clorox wipes throughout the day to sanitize computer areas, tables, chairs, and headphones will help to keep my classroom clean and free of yucky bacteria.
Hand sanitizers are another way to promote cleanliness in the classroom. Tissues are needed and used frequently by students and teachers alike during allergy and cold/flu season. They are a greatly needed necessity throughout the school!
