My Students

The students who enroll in the yearbook class are dynamic, creative individuals who would like to preserve their high school memories. The class is unique in the sense that we have 37 students enrolled in the class. That number is important for a couple reasons; the first being that the majority of yearbook classes have no more than 20 students and technology for those students. My classroom is has more students and much less technology.

Over the past few years with an increase in students owning their own smart phone, we have come to hope for a piece of technology that could help us with our picture collection, restoration and design; hence the request for new technology.

My students are deserving of the same technology available in other schools across the country despite their urban education label.

My Project

In a school district where technology is more than sparse, it is important to remember and help provide the students with the same advantages as other, more economically advantaged schools. The laptop will help the students to capture and create a book to preserve their memories. Although the class has 37 students enrolled, and limited, out-dated technology, this laptop will help to create a more dynamic yearbook.

Through this technology, students will be able to photoshop images in a pristine manner, upload them easily to the yearbook website and manage the various responsibilities required of running a yearbook business.

It is my goal, as their teacher, to provide the same technological advantages as other schools around the nation.
