I am an elementary teacher in a large, urban school district in Wisconsin. Currently, 100% of our students receive free lunch. I used to teach in an enrollment controlled program where the number of students was kept at a ratio of 18:1. This year, due to drastic cuts to education, that program is gone and my class size will increase by at least 10 students. We make the best of cooperative grouping and are the students masters at sharing.
My school is an open concept building which means focus is our top priority.
My students come to school excited to see what is planned for the day and look forward to the engaging lessons I have planned. With help from you, my students will have all the resources they need to be scholars.
My students are inquisitive. They ask STEM related questions everyday. I want to be able to provide them with multiple experiences to quench their thirst for STEM knowledge. We would like a STEM career kit for Grades 2 - 3. My plan is to expose them to multiple careers that the 21st Century learner will be ready for upon completion of school. Students also need to know about the world around them to enhance their global perspective. I want my students to see that the subject of Social Studies is complex with geography activities and to embrace different customs and cultures. To support this work we are requesting write and wipe landform maps, children of the world poster set, and landforms match-ups.
As we are approaching the middle of the school year it's becoming the Hunger games for supplies.
Our pencils are worn down or missing and the sharpener has called it quits so we need replacements! We are also in desperate need of Expo markers to continue our quest to shrink our carbon footprint. These supplies make our classroom function like a fine oiled machine. Please consider donating to our worthwhile project.
