My school is located in a small community that is starting to grow at a rapid rate. In the district, the student population has risen and is currently around forty-six percent. We wanted to create a class where students would be able to work together on projects. I had the idea last year of developing a Teen Living class that would cover cooking/nutrition, sewing, money management, everyday life skills, and health and wellness. Due to our pandemic, we delayed the start of the class but are hoping to incorporate it this school year.
We introduced Teen Living as an elective class option for the 20-21 school year, and it was the most popular elective class chosen.
However, this comes with a large startup cost to get all of the supplies we will need for cooking and sewing. Our students want this class so I would love to make it happen!
My Project
The skillets will be used for when we are finally back on campus. Students will be working in groups no larger than 4 so 9 skillets are needed for a class set.
Having the skillets for smaller groups will give them a more one on one approach to cooking.
I plan on incorporating breakfast, lunch and dinner meals that can be cooked in the skillets. There are so many types of foods that can be cooked in skillets that there doesn't seem to be a limit on what they will be able to cook!
