Help me give my students a reliable stapler, dividers to focus, sturdy magazine racks for supplies and a classroom set of mathematical calculators.

My Students

I have a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds in my classroom. The children at M. are always so excited to be at school. The classroom gets quite crowded at times with so many children and the fact that they are older and bigger than the little kids.

My classroom is in need of some supplies to help students organize their things and to help with focus during their independent work time.

With our new math curriculum we are hoping to receive a classroom set of mathematical calculators for them to use in their workplace stations.

My Project

School supplies can range from the typical pencil to personal devices. At this point in our school year, my classroom is in need of a reliable stapler, sturdy magazine holders, dividers to keep them focused, and mathematical calculators.

My students are in need of these school supplies to enhance their organization, concentration, and learning to be successful in their final year before reaching middle school.

A stapler might seem to be a simple supply, but there are many types available. Students need to have one that is reliable without having staples getting caught so often when they need to staple a test or a well written essay.

My classroom has tables, as seen in the picture, therefore we use totes to organize their supplies. Sturdy magazine holders would be a great addition for keeping supplies organized so they do not have to waste time when transitioning from one subject to the next because they cannot find materials buried in the tote.

Many students need more of an independent work station to remain focused during work completion time. The dividers would provide them this opportunity to drown out movement and small noises.

Finally, our new curriculum calls for the use of mathematical calculators. Each classroom was only provided with three. Only 2 of mine are working, and it is nearly impossible to play some of the games or practice skills with a class of 23 students.

The addition of these school supplies would allow students to further their skills to be successful in their final grade of elementary school. It is part of my responsibility as a fifth grade teacher to ensure I am preparing them to be successful in the upcoming grades.
