I am a newly appointed STEM teacher with 10+ years of experience as an early childhood general education teacher. I teach in a high needs, Title One school. Our school is new, sixth year in, replacing a school that has phased out. WE HAVE TO STAND OUT!
My students are mostly from shelters or foster homes in the area, which are all riddled with gang violence, drugs and guns.
This creates a very transient population for our school and a hardship on our dedicated staff. Our children have seen and experienced more in their short little lives than most of us could dream of in our worst nightmares.
Despite this, I want to inspire them to be better and do better. The ability to open their eyes and show them that there is more out there in the world is my goal for this school year! "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." ~Henry Adams
We are starting a new STEM program at our school that will encourage independent learning with a group of creative and innovative students. I would like for my students to have the ability to feel proud of their accomplishments in the program by documenting the stages of their learning. Having this camera with all its accessories will fulfill that vision for us.
My goal is to have a new camera where students can feel independent in documenting their scientific learning.
Who knows, it may even inspire some students to take an interest in photography?! STEM is all about opening students minds to unique learning. This camera will be a part of making that happen!
