Help me give my students an opportunity to increase their vocabulary and sight word recognition with SnapWords Teaching Cards. My students pick up material much quicker when given a picture or a movement.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in an inner-city school located in an impoverished area. Most of my students are living at or below the poverty line. Even the most basic materials are in short supply, which means reaching into my own pockets every year for crayons and pencils. Despite the obstacles, my students come to school eager to learn each day. There is never a dull moment in my classroom.
We laugh, we learn, and we work hard.
Thank you for visiting my project, and any help you offer is greatly appreciated by myself, my students, and their families!
My Project
Many of my students come into kindergarten not on track. Students are unable to identify letters/sounds or even their name. Although they come in behind they still walk in every day eager to learn and work hard. After a few weeks using visual phonics students know their letters and sounds and begin to work on sight word recognition (they are expected to know 100 by the end of kindergarten). Snap words will be a great way for students to learn words through motions. By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase student sight word recognition, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement in reading.
