Help me give my students a microwave to help teach them to increase their independence by fixing themselves a snack. We have a classroom Keurig from another Donors Choose project and we need some more K-cups.
My classroom consists of some of the most amazing students who face multiple challenges each day.
Most of my students have multiple disabilities and need adaptations and modifications to be able to access their environment.
Functional skills and daily activities that help improve independence are just some of the many things that my students work on daily. My students work on skills that will help them transition into adulthood and the "real world" after graduating. My students also learn skills that they will be able to use in the work world.
My Project
Having access to a microwave in our classroom will allow my students the opportunity to increase their independence with making a snack. That's something we all take for granted, but my students need the opportunity to learn and to be successful, and that requires repetition and individualized instruction. So, why not practice using the microwave by fixing popcorn and macaroni and cheese. Everyone loves those two foods!
Help my students "POP" their way to independently fixing a snack.
Fixing snacks is a simple task for you and I, but do you realize practice makes perfect for those who need repetition and individualized instruction. So, please consider donating and helping my students learn to make their own snacks.
