Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Even when the people in pictures change, we are left with memories to last a lifetime. Our students need cameras to take pictures to fill a yearbook with cherished moments.
Our students attend a high poverty public school, where 70% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Many of them come from single family homes. Some are separated from a parent who is still in their home country. They have many needs and face many challenges. Despite these challenges, they come to school everyday eager to learn and form lasting memories with their friends and teachers.
My Project
This project will serve about 500 students from 1st to 5th grade in our school. Our goal is to get a Nikon digital camera for each grade level in the building in order that they can take pictures of special events or pictures of the students as they grow, learn, and play. Each grade level representative will then save the pictures on the Sandisk drive. From there the teachers will give the disk drives to the teachers that make up our yearbook committee. They will then proceed to make an incredible yearbook for our students. Our hope is that we can provide every student in the school a yearbook at little to no cost through the many fundraising activities we hold. All we need are the cameras to take the pictures. Our elementary years are a time when many lifelong relationships are formed and we'd love to capture them in pictures. Snap, click let the camera do its trick!

The many pictures that will be taken with the Nikon digital cameras throughout year will be placed in a yearbook for the student to cherish. Pictures do speak a thousand words, each one will tell a story of growing and learning. Help us with this school based project that will benefit so many and provide lifelong memories.
