Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is in a lower socio-economic area of a large urban city. Over 80% of the students in our school qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. These kids may not have a lot of things but they have a lot of heart and are eager to learn. This year we have departmentalized, and I will be teaching science and writing to the entire fourth-grade level. We are teaching fourth grade on a block schedule, just like in middle school! I look forward to the teaching all of the students in just these two content areas.

My Project

Hands-on exploration in science is the best way for students to learn content objectives. This project requests snap circuit kits for my students to use in small groups in order to explore alternative and renewable energy. This project is directly aligned to the fourth-grade science content objectives that talk about light and sound.

The snap circuits will be a great addition to my science lab, as I have been appointed the science teacher for the entire fourth grade this school year.
