Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an amazing group of students that come from all walks of life. They are energetic, funny and ready to learn! I teach 26 superstars in a Title I school in New York City.
My students come from countries like Colombia, Mexico, Bangladesh, and Guyana.
I teach students with disabilities, students that have health impairments, and a large population of English language learners. This year is unlike any other because my boys outnumber the girls. With all of their differences, one thing stands true: my students are eager to learn.
My Project
With the new year upon us I would like to request snacks, water and some classroom supplies. Snack these days are necessary because our lunchtime is at 10 a.m. When that afternoon rolls around the students are drained, they need a quick pick me up to fuel their brains. I am requesting goldfish, animal crackers, bottled water and m & m's to give them that boost. In class my students use dry erase markers and post its for daily lessons. When they are in small groups they use post it notes to jot down their thoughts and add to anchor charts and the markers are used with their paddles and slates for reinforcement with in lessons. We use laminating pouches to create dry erase centers and a mobile student word wall. As an incentive I also laminate some of their pieces as keepsakes. Please help us kick off the second half of the school year right!
