Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are hardworking, and their families care a lot about their success. They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds in Houston, Texas with almost every student qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Over 90 percent of the students are Hispanic, and many of them will be the first person in their families to graduate from college.
My students are inspired to continue their education in a health science occupation.
Our health science programs serve students from grades 9-12. The programs offer practical experience and mentorship. The mentorship provides the students with support, helpful information, and guidance. Our goal is to supply our students with life skills that can help drive them to success in and out of high school.
My Project
Our students have long days in school and many still stay here on campus for after school extracurricular activities. With lunch being served early in the day and school not ending until 4 pm, you can just imagine how much an afternoon snack is needed! My students need some type of snack and drink to help give them the fuel they need to make it through the school day.
Being able to have snacks and drinks will help keep my studetns energized so they can continue to focus on learning throughout the day.
The snacks will also be used as rewards for class participation. Students will also have them available when they stay after school for club meetings or tutorial.
The facial tissues will be used daily as it is a classroom necessity. Please consider supporting our project!
