This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have been fulfilling my lifelong ambition of teaching and inspiring children for over 12 years. My passion is to help my students reach their potential and, in doing so, discover the joy of learning.
I have the opportunity to teach 30 unique students at a public school.
My school is a K-8, Title I school, where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch and come from low-income families. My school encourages a diverse approach to learning that inspires each student to learn, achieve, and remain committed to high standards in all content areas.
My Project
Many of my students come to school hungry each day. As a result, they are moody and do not work to the best of their best ability.
If this project gets funded, it will allow me to feed my students snacks throughout the day to give them an energy and stamina and cheer their moods.
I have chosen Cheez-its, fruit snacks, popcorn, etc. to feed my students on the days that they are not fed at home. Many times, people take food for granted. Sadly, my students do not live in homes with kitchens full of food that they can eat whenever they are hungry. Many of my students only get to eat when they are at school. Therefore, snacks are important to them and it would be great to have them on hand on an as needed basis in my classroom.
