This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in a single gender school in the city of Atlanta. My students are very smart, polite, driven and always striving for success. They SOAR like Eagles (They have SELF CONTROL , stay ON TASK, they ACT RESPONSIBLE and they RESPECT EVERYONE.)
These students live in one of, if not the most poverty stricken areas in the city of Atlanta, but they don't let this stop them from becoming successful.
These students are the absolute BEST type of students one could have.
My Project
Since the students in the schools I serve are in a low income community, they often don't have the basic needs like food, clothing and shelter. My students come to school hungry, and sometimes they are hungry again by the end of the day. The only time some of these kids eat is during lunch, or if the school offers free breakfast.
These resources (chips, Goldfish, Granola bars) will help sustain my kids throughout the day when they get hungry and lunch has either not come, or passed.
They will be given the snacks as needed, and when they express that they're hungry.
