This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in the heart of Jefferson County, Mississippi. Our town has no industry and very few employment opportunities. My students live in a poverty-stricken area and 100% of them qualify for free lunch. More than three fourths of them live in poverty. Twenty-five percent of students are at risk of dropping out of school before they complete high school. These precious children need to learn the basic skills they need to be productive members of society. Job opportunities are very limited in this area and parents struggle to provide basic needs.
Help my students thrive!
These students deserve an education. They desperately need a learning environment in which they can succeed. Help me provide them with a positive learning experience.
My Project
Our firsties eat at 10:25. It is a long day until their next meal. Thanks to you these filling snacks will help them through those afternoon dropsies as we work to meet our learning goals.
School days are long for these tiny learners.
Some students remember daily to bring a snack while others rarely ever have anything to snack on during these long winter afternoons.
Students will enjoy these snacks. Thank you so much for providing baked chips, light cookies, and other snacks for my students. It is hard to concentrate when you are hungry. These snacks will fill the void between lunch and dinner.
