This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a mixture of bilingual, English learners, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students. Regardless of their backgrounds or previous experiences, every child is eager and willing to learn.

My students are a lively bunch that love to explore the world through educational experiences and play.

They never back down from a learning challenge and are endlessly curious. They are motivated to advance their learning by the materials and opportunities for academic growth provided to them.

My Project

It is very important to me that my students feel comfortable and safe in my classroom. We currently have mini stations around the room that include a large hand sanitizer and tissues for anyone who needs them.

I would like to go a step further in providing a healthy and safe environment for my students and also provide disposable masks, supplemental first aid materials, portable hand sanitizers, and healthy snacks.

Sometimes my students forget their masks at home, or they rip, or fall on the ground. In these situations I like to be prepared and have some available to give out. This project would provide our class with 150 colorful and fun themed masks to hand out in emergencies. I would like to ensure each student has hand sanitizer at their desks and would use the mini sanitizers in this project for that. They could also be refilled with the large sanitizers we have in our classroom. We currently have a first aid kit in our classroom, but it doesn't have as wide an array of bandages and lacks a ready to go ice pack like the one included in this project. Finally, this project also includes a variety of healthier snacks. These are great incentives, but can also be used for students who may get hungry late in the afternoon or before it is time for lunch.

To sum up, the items in this project would provide materials and snacks that would promote the health and wellness of my students and create an overall safer learning environment.
