This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My class consists of low-income students. Some of the students in my class come from Spanish, Chinese, British and African cultures. What makes my students special is they come to school with an eager attitude to learn. Some days are not as good as others, but I can say at the end of the day that the students are glad they came to school. Our teachers work hard in order to give students what they need in a timely manner.
My Project
The school year is coming to and end fast. End of the year tests are almost here. Despite all the strikes against us, we've made strides this year learning to cherish that sweet spot between comfort and challenge. Sometimes, however, we need a little sweet for that spot!
Snacks help us get to lunch.
They help when we don't have breakfast in the morning.Not only are they tasty and satisfying when your stomach starts gnawing and growling, but they are responsible, healthy energy and serve not only as a temporary fix but a teachable moment.
My students need this exposure to healthy alternatives and experiences so that they know and feel the boast it gives them and learn to seek it out for themselves. I use these as rewards and as needed when students don't eat breakfast.
