This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"If you can dream it, you can do it." - Walt Disney.
My classroom is the room where dreams come true and I will not let the lack of supplies or resources stand in the way of my students' dreams.
Ninety-eight percent of the students who grace my classroom door live in government assisted housing and receive free lunch. My students get used to hearing they are destined to become another statistic. When they enter my classroom, they are welcomed to a world of creativity and innovation. They walk into a land where dreams come true.
My students need supplies to be successful. My school's mission is to educate and prepare each of our diverse scholars to excel in a changing global society. It is recognized that the success of the students attending my school is directly correlated to effectiveness of instruction and the quality of the learning environment. By incorporating a variety of hands-on learning and manipulatives, my students will see they can be anything they dream of being.
My Project
My students can't focus on their education when they are facing hunger. Students in Room 24 always ask for snacks during the day, complain of hunger and ask for seconds during lunch. As a teacher, it's hard to push them when I know they are hungry. I want to provide my students will snacks such as goldfish, peanut butter cups, and poptarts so hunger is not a problem.
Mother Teresa said, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”
There are only so many things that I can control in my classroom. Making sure my students do not hungry is one thing I can try to control. By providing breakfast options and snacks for them throughout the day, I can assure that we are putting our best selves towards education!
