This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are well mannered and know I expect them to be ready to learn at all times. I encourage them to try their very best every day. I am ready to set a great learning foundation for my students. Unfortunately, my students face circumstances of living below the poverty level, limited resources, not being able to bring pencils to school, and parental substance abuse. I try to expose my students to many advanced hands-on learning artful skills as much as possible because they aren't exposed to many things outside of their community. My school does not provide the required resources to expose the students to the best hands-on learning experience needed to keep them engage and increase their academic performance. My school has excellent teachers and administrators that put forth the maximum effort. The students are always ready to learn, some may have extreme obstacles and circumstances that interfere with their learning capabilities. The students are always shining and excelling no matter what and that's the best feeling as an educator. I want to achieve "Essentials for Learning"!
My Project
Students often underperform in school for various reasons and hunger is one. During this pandemic, students have been impacted tremendously, which may have altered their sleeping or eating habits, functioning abilities, motivation for learning, and more. Hunger has been one of many reasons for students learning distraction or not being able to function in school. My goal is to provide students with snacks to help them focus during school and incentivize them to close their learning gaps to increase their achievements. Getting these snacks and other resources should help one component of providing essentials for learning.
