Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My sixth grade science class is comprised of approximately 85 amazing students; many of whom come from very diverse cultures and backgrounds. Due to their socioeconomic situations, a majority of these students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our middle school strives to provide excellent education for grades 6-8 and provides a rigorous academic course load that is made possible by the fantastic teachers and staff who work in tandem to create a safe and accessible learning environment for all of our students.
My Project
My students are in need of snacks such as crackers and cookies to eat during class. Often times, many students come to my class hungry. Whether they are running late or forget to eat breakfast, I want to be able to provide my students with a 'Hungry Snack' if needed. Hunger can become a huge hindrance to their learning and academic success!
When students are hungry, it is difficult for them to concentrate and learn during class.
These healthy snacks will also show my students that I truly care about their overall well being and not just academic performance. My student will be able to perform at their highest potential! These snacks will help my students be effective students physically, emotionally, and academically! These snacks will also provide a safe and caring environment for my students.
