My name is Ms. Swaw. I teach Autism in the structured program in Washington State. I have 8 students in grades 6th-8th.
They come from diverse backgrounds in a Title 1 school.
We enjoy hands-on activities, such as task boxes, and art projects. We work with each student individually to help them with their goals to be successful inside the classroom and outside the classroom. Every day is a joy to be with them!
My students all have unique learning capabilities. They work well with visuals and prompting. Having a set routine is key to their success!
My Project
Students need healthy snacks to remain focused in class. Healthy snacks will ensure students to be successful in the classroom, because they will have brain food. Many of my students have a hard time focusing on their learning, because they do not all eat breakfast.
My students will be able to learn knowing that their stomachs are full.
Kids cannot grow their brains when they are feeling hungry. Snacks help students focus on what they need inside the classroom.
We start school at 7:10am. We are very fortunate to have a breakfast program, but we do not eat lunch until 11:00. That is a long time for my students to go without eating anything. We have snack time in the late morning to help keep their tummies full.
These snacks will last us throughout the school year.
