My students need a variety of snacks and drinks, to stop hunger from happening during and after the school day. These will be used for school and home use.
My school is a Title I school located near a military base. The students come from various diverse backgrounds. We have 100% of our population receiving free lunch and breakfast. Our school serves students from many socioeconomic backgrounds including homeless students, who at times may live with family friends or other relatives. Our students, parents, and teachers are proud of their school and demonstrate their pride in all they do! The students rely on their local elementary school to be a strong foundation, not only in their educational careers but in their daily lives! We have very enthusiastic families and students with very little resources. My students love learning, and I enjoy helping these bright young minds grow and develop.
My Project
As a teacher, I enjoy helping my students in any way I can, which includes helping to provide supplies and food as needed. This project is inspired by my students who come in late and miss breakfast. When this happens, it might be hours before they have a chance to eat at lunch. As they anxiously await for lunch, the students' attention isn't completely focused on the work and tasks given to them.
My goal is to have healthy, nutritional snacks on available for students this year as well.
Additionally, I also want to start sending some food home with students as needed, to help in any way I can. I am asking for snacks and drinks for my students, for both during and after school hours. The students are hungry to learn, and would benefit from the nutritional snacks to keep them full, and focused on their school work.
