Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students with emotional disturbance. Prior to the school closing, they were worried and had many questions about COVID-19. As much as I could, I kept their day as normal as possible and answered questions as best as I could. They have been deeply affected by having to do Distance Learning so abruptly. I have to contact nuke to show them and motivate them to continue with their learning while trying to meet their emotional needs. Some have been able to continue their learning while others are struggling learning from home.
My Project
I would love to provide students with snacks and drinks during our Distance Learning time. Many students rely on the school’s breakfast, snacks provided by Donors Choose projects from previous projects, and lunch meals. I have been worried about them and would love to provide them with some snacks so they can enjoy them at home. Students would love to have a variety of cereal and cereal bars that are different than what their parents purchase. The candy is just an added bonus to sweeten up their day. The mini stuffed animal is our school mascot. I would love for students to have something that they can keep forever to commemorate being a part of our school during this pandemic.
