If you've ever spent time with teenagers, you know they are ALWAYS hungry! I get asked if I have anything to eat on a daily basis. I hate having to tell students I don't have anything to give them, so the idea of the snack cart was born!
The snack cart is a cart in the front of the classroom, accessible to any student I teach, stocked with snacks they don't have to ask for. If they are hungry, they simply get up and get a snack, then go back to their seat. We are running low on snacks, so I would love to be able to finish strong and refill our cart!
I have noticed through the implementation of the snack cart that scores in my class have been increasing at a steady rate. When students do not have to focus on being hungry, they are able to focus on the work at hand.
