Snacks for Fuel

My Students

I am a teacher in a small, elementary, Brooklyn neighborhood school. I am teaching third grade. My students are from diverse backgrounds and range in academic abilities from non-English speaking students to advanced learners and include general education, as well as special education students. My students are heterogeneously grouped. Many of my students face academic struggles and are in need of extra support.

My enthusiastic students are full of energy, love to express themselves, and actively participate in our classroom activities.

They are always ready to go on a new learning adventure. In September, they returned for in-person learning. My students love to learn and are eager to come to school everyday.

My goal is to give them the best learning experience and make it a memorable year. My responsibility is to guide my students to become more independent to prepare for the rest of their academics. I believe the more engaged my students are, the better outcomes they will have.

My Project

My students need a break halfway through the day and have snack time. Most of my students bring snacks. They enjoy days when I give them a choice and have a special snack they can pick. This year they are not allowed to share so the excitement of something different is missing.

With 25 students in class snacks go fast so I am hoping to always have some available to boost their energy.

Snack time is an important and needed break. It also allows my students to socialize with their friends. This contributes to developing positive mental health and wellness.

We are also in need of paper towels, tissues, and hand towels. These are other items we go through at a quick pace. Keeping a well-stocked classroom helps the day go by smooth. It also promotes healthy habits and keeps us safe.
