Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom are very loving and caring individuals. My students are very talented 25 young individuals who come from a low socioeconomic section in Florida. I have ESE, ESOL and autistic immigrant students. My students come to school filled with eager to learn and be the best they can be. My students face many challenges inside school to succeed and do their best, and they struggle outside of school to not allow the environment that they live in to stop them from achieving their dreams.
My Project
As we are located in South Florida, we have seen a lot of displaced students come to us from Puerto Rico and the Haiti. These students have lost it all and were forced to relocate to a completely different location as a means of survival. Maria ravaged these islands and left many of my students and their families feeling helpless.
This project sets out to make sure that the displaced students have a means to complete their schoolwork, by means of flash drives, as well as, help them concentrate on learning by providing snacks.
The students will be able to have snacks such as ring pop, blow pop and candy necklace. With the good snacks, the student will not be hungry while in school. These kids have come here with barely anything, and often cannot concentrate because they do not have the proper nourishment. This project hopes to help improve this problem. Through this donation, we will be able to make sure that the children displaced by Maria do not continue to jump hurdles.
