Help me give my students a snack after school before practice. Many families do not have the resources to pack snacks, and hunger shouldn't be the focus during practice!
My students mostly come from a poverty that we will never know or understand. They are resilient, funny, and active. Most of them are minorities who have had little exposure to the arts, music, or life experiences.
Music and acting could give my students an outlet that they have never experienced before!
They love attending music and making sound, and I am thrilled to be able to offer them a chance to act, sing, or watch our second Disney Production. Last year we were able to do the Jungle Book, and this year everyone is excited that we will be producing the Lion King! Many of the students have been looking forward to this since school started.
My Project
Each student will commit to practicing two days a week after school for several months during this production. Because poverty is such an issue in our school, we would like to offer healthy sustaining snacks to these children before each practice. Students should not have to choose hunger but many would to stay after and practice.
Thank you so much for joining us in giving our students this amazing and fun opportunity!
While this is only our 2nd year with Disney, the results have far surpassed anything we dreamed about. Increased positive behavior, a sense of belonging and a love for arts have been just a few of the rewards we have seen since starting this!
