Our district is low income and we get a lot of support from the state. We have many homeless teens and families who come to school food challenged. As a result of the current financial situation, the state has cut back too, so we are really in a bind when it comes to extras like snacks for testing. Neither parents, nor administrators, nor PTA have much to offer. In spite of this we keep plugging along using best practices in middle school education. I work with some great teachers!
Many of our students come to school food and housing challenged. It is hard enough to do your best on a standardized test when you are well rested and fed. It can be hard to distribute snacks to just those in need, so it is best to provide the same snacks and drinks for all students. It is also important that during standardized testing, that conditions are standard for all students. These snacks, for the entire student body, for six different days of testing, make it possible for them to do their absolute best with food and drinks in their stomach.
Please help supply snacks and drinks for students taking standardized tests.
With your gift students will be able to do their best during our standardized testing regimens.
