Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are so eager to learn more about the latest technology so they too can create animations, make movies, edit photos, design magazine layouts, and 3D print. As their Digital Media Arts teacher, I am charged with the task of designing rigorous, college-prep projects that also inspire the creative, technical, and critical minds of my students.
IA students are kind and creative urban high school freshmen in California with a common mission of being the first in their families to graduate from college.
We know we are lucky to be at a small charter school that focuses on art and technology, but we are in need of support to keep tech central in the classroom.
My Project
I will be teaching two small after school classes this year and am hoping to provide those students with snacks for each class meeting. Nine AP Art + Design students meet from 1-2pm every Wednesday after a short school day with no lunch time. Approximately ten Global Glimpse students will be meeting once a month at 4pm on Tuesdays.
My after school class sizes are slightly larger this year and I hope to continue being able to keep these students fed.
It is wonderful that so many Impact students are going above and beyond to take an additional AP class that isn't offered during school hours and that so many students are interested in building leadership skills and learning about the world with Global Glimpse. I want to make sure that they are all able to stay focused and are ready to learn during these meetings.
