Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are adventurous fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade students. They work diligently to overcome the challenges of their disabilities and strive to be their best. They challenge me daily, and I enjoy finding ways to help them. Teaching multiple grade levels to students who are at, below, and above grade level and adjusting my teaching to meet their social and emotional needs, is demanding and rewarding at the same time.
Nearly all of my students are from low-income households and are transported to our school from all parts of our school district.
Luckily, my school community is very supportive and encouraging. When people say, "It takes a village...," I have learned that it truly takes a village in order to meet the needs of every student in my classroom. For this reason, I do my best to be creative to provide them what they need and to make our classroom a positive learning environment. DonorsChoose.org and supporters allow me to get closer to meeting the needs of every student I come in contact with because I try to help all students at my school not just those in my classroom.
My Project
I am committed to giving my students all the resources I can in order for them to have a successful day at school and have a positive learning experience. One of the things they need is snacks.
I promote nutrition and its effect on learning.
Snacks such as Snyder’s of Hanover Mini Pretzels, Planters Mixed Nuts, M&M’s, and Skittles will help students have something in their stomachs while they learn and play. My students often come to school without having breakfast and then have a difficult time focusing on their learning. The snacks will make a difference in their day and give them more energy instead of learning and playing on an empty stomach.
