Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Wellness Center serves as a vital resource for students, families, and staff, offering an array of support, resources, and services.

The requested items, including snacks, board games, and fidgets, will be distributed by our students for other students to expand the scope of our impact.

Our services include:

-Act as a liaison, connecting students and their families to the FRC, a place which provides families with groceries, clothing, school supplies, adult education, and basic needs items.

-Facilitate games for new students, some even new to the country, fostering connections and socialization.

-Provide more than just a refuge for stress, but provide a positive space for support and building connections.

-Engage students through student-led creative activities, aligning with national initiatives like Bullying Prevention Month and Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

-Snacks for hungry students throughout the day.

-Partake in Bring Change 2 Mind club: mission is to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.

When snacks and games are available, for example, students, accompanied by their friends, discover our Wellness center, creating a unique opportunity for them to engage with our center staff. These casual interactions naturally occurring during snack breaks play a vital role in breaking down the stigma associated with seeking support services.

We feel that the student-led wellness events we host and providing snacks for students will help students make more positive connections with each other and create an even better sense of feeling welcomed.
