Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My amazing students are in first grade and are in a dual language class. My students attend school in the Inland Empire. They attend a Title I school and are all on free or reduced-price lunch. They are very driven and love hands-on activities.
The majority of my students are first generation students, and are very driven to be the first in their families to attend a university or college.
They hope to use education to be able to strive for a better life in this country.
My Project
My students are currently being safe at home during and participating in distance learning. These materials will be used to learn colors, color mixing, along with art concepts, and have yummy and healthy snacks to help them learn. This project will make it possible to have all the materials at home that will help improve our learning and also help provide comfort during this time.
My students need snacks that provide them comfort, warmth, are healthy , and ones that can be consumed while learning.
Under normal circumstances my student would have access to my classroom pantry and share paints. However, some of my students don’t have access to the snacks and tools to provide social and emotional support.
Currently, all of my students are on free and reduced lunch and these small items will make a huge difference!
