This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school district is located in a small rural town and is considered high needs and seeks basic health and wellness resources on a daily basis. Your gift would bring lasting enjoyment to nearly all low-income household, diverse middle school scholars, who will immediately use these basics throughout the school day. All the requested items (i.e. disposable facial masks, juices, and healthy snacks) are just a few of the items that will be used by the middle school scholars to make sure our students perform at their best!
These middle school scholars are comprised of enthusiastic learners, many of whom receive free or reduced-price lunches.
Their joy for learning is both exciting and inspiring.
My Project
Health and wellness include social connectedness, exercise, nutrition, sleep, and mindfulness. By making simple and healthy choices on a daily basis, our scholars will be well on their way towards reducing stress, having positive social interactions, and achieving optimal wellness. The requested materials will be housed in the library where all scholars in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th will be able to retrieve a facial mask if needed or snack during weekly library visits. Unfortunately during this pandemic, our scholars eat in the classroom for both breakfast and lunch, so unless they are able to bring a snack from home, they often do without. Your donation will allow me, the librarian, the opportunity to support other colleagues and office staff with providing snacks and/or protection to our students as an added bonus.
