This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The demographics at my school consist of 65% Black students, 30% Hispanic/Latino students, 2% White students, 11% English language learners and 33% of students with special needs.
Most students come from low-income households or live in foster homes or temporary housing.
Many families are single-parent households and working families.
We are a Title 1 school in Harlem. All of our students participate in the free breakfast and lunch programs. The students at my school have different learning styles and levels, and come from diverse communities.
I am a Special Education Teacher with a goal of closing the wide educational learning gap. Every student can learn; however, many learn at a slower pace. I want to provide the resources to help improve their educational experience.
My Project
We have all felt the distraction of hunger to the point food is all we could think about. Sometimes my students come to SETSS sessions in the morning without eating breakfast. The breakfast cereals will help treat my students' hunger so they could focus on their targeted goals for the SETSS sessions.
Please help provide my students with these breakfast meals, snacks, and beverages so they can power through the day and afterschool.
The snacks and beverages can be used to comfort students when they are stressed before coming to my sessions. These snacks and beverages will help my special needs students treat their hunger before focusing on their learning!!
