This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where one hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students come from low economic backgrounds, and my classroom is where they are allowed to just take a break from their everyday home lives.
My students are kids that enjoy having fun and learning.
As their teacher, I am always honored to be able to help them become better students and help them build character and confidence. Regardless of the circumstances, I am the teacher who holds them to high expectations.
My Project
We need snacks to help them get through the day and enhance their learning. By providing snacks for my students this will help them learn. With the majority of my students being from low income homes, they come to school everyday telling me how hungry they are and that they haven't eaten yet that day.
These snacks will help us keep their brains in movement and maintain good brain power.
We really want to get levels 3, 4, & 5 on our Math EOGs. Students are going to be engaged in afterschool tutoring to help prepare them for their Math EOGs. Due to having to stay after school, they are filled with hunger and need a snack to keep their brains going.
