Snack Time Superstars

My Students

My students absolutely love learning! They get so excited when they pick up on new concepts and deepen their learning. I have a few that even have a happy dance they do when they answer a math problem or read a sentence correctly! I truly have such a sweet group of kiddos this year. They love hugs, helping people, and never forget to tell me that they love me. I love coming to school to see them each day!

My Project

We have the earliest lunch in the building, so by the end of the day, my students are hungry! I have an afternoon snack time to combat this. Sometimes students bring their own snacks and I've had a few parents donate some things, but I always run out and kiddos end up with no snack for the day. It has gotten too expensive for me to continue stocking the snack basket weekly. Buying these snacks in bulk should keep my stash going strong for the rest of the school year! I can store them since they are nonperishable and restock as needed. This way, every student is assured a snack at school even if the families cannot afford to send in extra things each day.

With all of my students full and happy, I can worry less about them being hungry when they go home!

I would give the world to these kiddos if I could, but snacks are an easy way to make a big difference. I have also included some glue sticks and pencils (it's that time of year when we run out of these most-used supplies) and some underwear for both boys and girls in this project. These are things I can send home with my students if need be. In first grade, we occasionally have bathroom accidents, and having some for the students to change into allows me to wash and dry their old ones during the day to send back home. I also like to have these on hand since we are in such a low-income area, that kiddos don't always have underwear and socks on at all.
