We are Title I school located in Arizona. We have a diverse population with a lot of different needs.
With an early start to the day, and a late lunch, my students go a long time every day without food.
This makes teaching and learning difficult around 10am every morning.
I am hoping to provide them with non sugar snacks every morning to ease their hunger and keep them focused on the lessons of the morning without stomach hunger pains.
We are a Title I school with a diverse population. Some kids eat breakfast at home, some kids take advantage of a school breakfast, and some students come to class hungry. Regardless of whether or not they ate at 7:30 am or earlier, our class time runs from 7:45 in the morning all the way to a late lunch of 12 pm. That is a long way to go for the kids that ate early and even longer to go for the students that didn't. I can see a lag in the classroom at around 10 am. If I do a recess break, and a bit of a snack, then they have the energy and focus to do better from 10:30-12.
