Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Without a doubt, the single most common complaint I hear from students is "I'm hungry." Whether it be from food insecurity at home, forgetting to eat breakfast, or just choosing not to eat lunch, hunger is the single greatest contributor to students being distracted in my classroom. Through this project, I hope to alleviate some of their stress and discomfort due to hunger. Providing snacks allows students to have the energy to stay engaged throughout the day.

Giving my students an afternoon snack can help provide their brains with the needed fuel to continue to effectively learn and keep hunger at bay.
