Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I teach come from a variety of backgrounds. We are working together in a STEM-focused charter school. The students love to move and work hands-on to assist in the learning process.
My students are an extension of me!
My aim is to inspire them to grow into their own person. I look forward to using a variety of STEM-related projects each year to get my students moving and thinking on a different level as a math teacher. I hope to foster a love for patterns, numbers and knowledge they will apply to their everyday lives.
My Project
My students come to school early and sometimes leave school late. They sometimes are not able to eat breakfast and are not able to bring a snack to keep them moving throughout the day. I am requesting some snacks to keep their bellies full and their minds running, no matter what time of day it is. They do not eat lunch until they have been to two different classes. I often have students who come to school hungry and in need of a snack to hold them over. As a tutor and the head of a club, I am also with children well after school has ended. Snack attack will help them to conquer their hunger and keep them thinking! The snacks will be handed out to them before, during and after school hours in order to keep them going. Each snack is meant to keep hunger at a minimum!
