As a special education teacher, my classroom has a mixture of children from different socioeconomic backgrounds, a wide variety of diverse learning needs and styles, and a range of disabilities. I am committed to providing individualized instruction, encouragement, and support for every student to reach their full potential.
Many of my students come to school on an empty stomach and have trouble staying focused. Food is a strong motivator for students who lack having their needs met at home. It is hard to focus on academics when not all of your basic needs are being met.
Students' social, emotional, and mental health are as important as their academics and we need to help them stay motivated during the long school day school.
To help my students be successful, I am requesting a variety of healthier snacks so I can provide extra nourishment before or after lunch and during extra tutoring. I am also asking for a storage container to put the snacks in so students can access the snacks in a single spot.
