My students need scientific calculators in order to do their math classwork and homework, especially for graphing, using Pi, and dealing with fractions, decimals, and percents.

My Students
I work at a middle school in Flushing, Queens which is in New York. A lot of the students in the school, not just in my class, come from low-income homes, so they can't afford basic supplies. A lot of these students are in charge of taking care of younger siblings, as well as themselves, while their parent(s) or guardian(s) work in order to provide them with food, a roof over their heads and at least some of the supplies they need for school.
Some students come from families where their parents have either neglected them, are in prison, or died; leaving them under the care of an orphanage or homeless shelter.
My Project
The scientific calculators I choose for my students will really help them visually when it comes to completing mathematical units on graphing (functions, slope, etc), utilizing Pi, and when dealing with percents, decimals and fractions. These calculators have amazing functions that will help these special education students.
Students will be able to have more confidence completing their math homework or classwork and will become more comfortable showing their work since they'll have more assistance with all of the functions on the calculators.
Instead of having to share one calculator for a whole class, each student will be able to use their own.
