My Students

I teach some of the best sophomore Biology students in Jefferson County every year. They come to class eager to learn and excited about our next class learning adventure. Our school is located in the middle of the city with no real outdoor gardens or space to practice ecological concepts.

One thing all students love is learning through hands-on experiments like labs.

This project will allow my students to have real field journals for their big field trip this year. They will be headed to the smoky mountains for a full week of outdoor labs and activities.

My Project

Our school is land-locked in the center of the city. This makes it very hard to engage in field work to help support our Ecology curriculum in my Biology class. When my students go on their field trip to the Smoky Mountains, I provide them with field journals to use for data recording. They have the opportunity to do real field experiments in stream ecology, stream physics, biodiversity, ethnobotany, invasive species managements, and much more! This has proven to be a truly enriching experience. The field journals are a must have, and I am try to cover as many expenses as possible. Having these for our trip would be incredible.
