This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are bright, inquisitive, and excited to learn about art. I teach in an urban Title I high school. My students range from grades Pre-K to 8 and they are the best kids, but the school operates on a tight budget and has little to no funding for art. It’s important to me that they have all the resources they need for class.
As their teacher and mentor, nothing would please me more than to just hand students the supplies they need.
My Project
Pre-K and K students love art, so they can use paint without worrying about there clothes getting messy. Our urban school has a small budget and can't afford the buy many supplies, but the students love coming to art every week. They made some amazing works of art in class last year and I can't wait to see what they produce this year.
The students love creating art and the art smocks will keep their clothes clean while creating all of the wonderful works of art.
I know their parents will certainly appreciate this addition to our art room.
