My Students

My students LOVE art and I want to bring the gift of photography to them. I want to teach my students photography and help them to create stories about their lives. I want my students to have an outlet to share what it's like to be a kid growing up in West Harlem.

My second grade students are passionate, full of zest and curious to explore the world they live in.

I want to offer a photography program to students who have the urge to create, explore and express themselves, and what a better way than through a digital photography program!

My Project

With the gift of cameras, I will be able to create a photography program for my students. I will have students take home these cameras on a rotation basis and have them "document their worlds." I will then edit the images, and curate a show of their best images in the spring.

Bringing photography to my students will allow them to take action and visually express their lives to the outside world.

It is so important for children to have an artistic outlet, and I would love to facilitate this amazing process.
