My school is in a high poverty area, where the hands-on materials and equipment needed to encourage students to explore and experiment are not always available. My kindergartners get excited when I pull out manipulatives.
My students are kinesthetic learners, so they need to experience hands-on exploration for them to learn and be able to later apply their new knowledge.
They come up with questions, and I guide them so that they can encounter new discoveries. My school is very supportive in encouraging exploration/investigations in the classroom but has limited financial resources necessary for new materials.
My Project
My kids love recording and documenting our learning activities. We need kid-friendly cameras so we can record our learning outside too. We can chart growth in our kindergarten garden or watch and learn about bugs on our playground.
These kid-safe cameras can travel with us on field trips, to art class, or outside in the dirt.
We want to record our learning no matter where we go.
The cameras are built tough so we don't have to worry so much about the kindergarteners bumping or dropping them and they are easy enough for all the learners to use after just a bit of practice. We can use the included cables to transfer our pictures and videos onto our online classroom journal so parents and community members can join in on what we are doing every day. Then we can use our pictures to illustrate and inspire our writing as well.
