Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all come from low-income households and our school is their place to interact with others their age. It is also where they get to engage with other adults since most have families where their parents are either working almost all day or busy caring for the others in their household. Our school is small and resources for our students are not easily accessible or attainable. Despite that, our preschoolers are always eager to learn and come to school with a smile on their sweet faces. They love coming into our classroom and being who they want to be, without any judgement. They're encouraged to use their imaginations and be as creative as they want to be. We allow them to become who they want to become as they begin their journey to kindergarten and towards their future.
Although funds at our school are not usually available or are very scarce, we do the best that we can with what we have and our children are always eager and excited to be at school.
We are like their second family and there is nothing better than seeing my children's smiling faces when we begin our day!
My Project
My children absolutely love to see themselves in pictures taken of them as they play throughout the day. They also enjoy looking at pictures that include them being involved in experiments that we conduct in our classroom. The problem is that currently the only means to actually take pictures of my students is by using my own personal phone! The camera and printer I am requesting will allow me to take pictures of my students without any worries. The printer will help me in printing the pictures immediately so the children can view them and so they can be hung on the wall.
My preschoolers love to smile for the camera and when they see themselves in pictures throughout our classroom, it helps them remember what it was we did that day or what they were doing that day!
Having an actual camera that is specifically for my classroom would alleviate the stress of making sure I delete pictures from my personal phone of my children. The printer will make it easier for us to get their pictures up as soon as possible. Without pictures, how would children remember the fun times they had?
