This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to school each day prepared to learn. They are fifth-grade leaders who stand up in the face of adversity even when and if that means they are standing alone.
My students are all members of a close school community that is committed to teaching through culturally responsive pedagogy in an effort to create independent learners and close academic gaps.
Scholars come from various neighborhoods in the city of Boston. Some arrive at school by foot and some are transported by a school bus.
My Project
We have an old model projector that has been used to project student work, exemplars and various media to the class. Unfortunately, the bulb is dying out, the machine overheats and it’s becoming challenging for students to see the presentations. I wish to have a Smart TV in order to update the technology in the classroom. With this technology, I’ll be able to wirelessly connect my computer to the screen to project documents, images and or videos in support of student learning. Students will also be able to project their chrome book screens to the Smart TV aiding in peer-to-peer feedback and productive student discourse.
